BITS & BOBS JOINS

I was drawn to the idea of creating a strong connection between materials through joints, in the production of functional furniture. This lead me to explore the pre-perceived attitudes towards materials and their abilities. By following these perceptions I was able to focus on the concept of bonding materials together to create joins; through this they became one solid fluid piece. Opposed to making this joins discreet I want them to become the focal point of my work. It was my intention to create a contrast between the bold colours of the plastic and the neutral wood. As well as investigating the more spontaneous characteristics of plastics compared to the linear form of wood. Through this contrast, I have a fun and playful element to my work.
